    Triceps Giant Set

    Hey Everybody!

Today’s workout is a triceps giant set! As I have explained in previous posts, a giant set means that you are going straight from exercise to exercise without rest. It includes three or more exercises. You will complete all three moves without taking a break! Benefits of giant sets are: building muscles and endurance, burning fat, and boosting performance.

I use these in my workouts occasionally as I see fit. I do not recommend doing this with all your workouts as it can mess with your metabolism. Today’s workout is all about building your triceps. I like to use a 10-20 pound barbell depending on the day.

    4 sets of 10 reps

    10 Barbell Skull Crushers

    10 Barbell Triceps Pull Over

10 Barbell Close Grip Bench Press

Here is a video on how to do each of these exercises. (It is sped up 1.5X)

As always, listen to your body. If something hurts don’t do it. Always start with the lowest amount of weight and increase from there.

I hope you liked today’s workout. Don’t forget to subscribe below so you don’t miss any of the workouts or meals! Thanks for your support and I will see you again next week.

    Quick Beachy Hair Waves

    Hey Everybody!

Today I am going to talk about something that I am constantly asked about and that is my favorite hair tool, the Revlon Jumbo 3 Barrel Hair Waver. I use it all the time and actually had to recently order a new one because my old one stopped working. My original one worked for almost ten years!! Using this tool, I can get my hair done in under ten minutes! It is so easy! I love the way that it looks and it turns out every single time I do it, unlike using some other tools. It’s also much cheaper than most heating tools. I just bought a new one off of amazon for less than $25!

Check out my time lapse video below to see how I use it 😊

Here is the link if you would like to get one too.

Here is the link to my favorite texturizer that I used in the video too.

    Savory Orange Chicken and Broccoli

    Hey Everybody!

Today’s recipe is one for orange chicken and broccoli. I honestly think that it’s better than Panda Express. This isn’t as healthy as some of the other recipes I have posted, but it is one of my favorite go to meals. This is actually my own original recipe as well.

This recipe generally takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.

    Ingredients

     2 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts

1 Cup Panko (found on the Asian Isle)

    1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley

    1 Egg

2 Tablespoon of Orange Sauce (found on the Asian Isle)

    2 Crowns of Broccoli

1 Cup of Minute Jasmine Rice

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
    2. Grab two bowls. Add the panko and parsley to one bowl and crack the egg into the second. Beat the egg so that it is an even consistency.
    3. Slice chicken breasts into small cubes about ¾ inch by ¾ inch.
    4. Dredge your chicken in the egg, then in the panko and parsley mixture.
    5. Place on prepared sheet pan.
    6. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes and remove.
    7. Flip the pieces of chicken to the other side.
    8. Return to the oven and bake for another 10-12 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken has reached 165 degrees F.
    9. At this point start to prepare your broccoli. Cut your broccoli crowns into small bushels. Fill a medium saucepan about 1/3 with water and boil it on high. Once it starts to boil place a steamer into your pan with the cut broccoli. Cover and reduce heat to medium for 9-11 minutes.
    10. Meanwhile, boil 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. When it starts to boil pour 1 cup of minute jasmine rice in the pan and stir. Cover and remove from heat.
    11. Top the cooling chicken with orange sauce and enjoy immediately.
    12. Do not top chicken breasts with the orange sauce unless you are eating immediately and aren’t planning on having leftovers since it will make them soggy.

I really enjoy this recipe and I hope you do too. Let me know what you think about this recipe in the comments below. If you love this please subscribe as well! You have got to try this one out. You will not be disappointed.

    READ

    Hey Everybody.

Today I am going to talk about something that I use for my self-care and that is reading. I know it sounds weird but reading has helped me get through some of the toughest times of my life. It has helped me to escape. It has helped to build my vocabulary. It has helped to improve my concentration and focus. I will highlight each of these benefits below.

Okay so the first thing that I mentioned reading has helped me with was escaping. Sometimes you just need to turn your brain off with what is currently going on around you. In my case, it has been during times of extreme stress in my life. I went through a terrible breakup in my early 20’s with the man I thought I was going to marry. I know it sounds cheesy but it was very traumatic to me and made me question everything around me. When I picked up a book, I could escape for a little while and just worry about what was happening in the book. I know I am not the only one that has been able to do this. It really helped me to relieve the stress. It eventually helped me to work through the situation as well. Each time I put my book back down I was in a much better mood.

I have been able to build my vocabulary substantially from reading. Whenever I am reading, and I don’t know a word I make sure to look it up so that I know what it means. I start to see these words for a while and then eventually I can use them.

I don’t know if many of you know this about me, but I have ADHD. I wasn’t diagnosed until around college time and I believe I can owe this to reading. Over time reading has really helped me to improve my concentration and focus. I have always been into reading from a young age and I know it helped me to get through school without even knowing that I had it!

Reading has changed my life. I think it can help you too!

I have included a list of my favorite lists below that I will be updating frequently.

    Custom Cable Grips

    Hey Everybody!

Today I am writing about an awesome addition to your gym bag. I never go to the gym without them!

They are the KYLIN SPORT Cable Machine Attachments.

At my gym, every time you go to use the cable machine, you can’t find the handles that you want. I swear there is only one or the other one you find is broken. I also hate to use the metal grips as they usually are too rough on my hands. Not these.

They have silicon grips, so you don’t even have to worry about that. They come in a cute little holder too so you can keep them nice in your gym bag. They also come in lots of fun colors like: blue, grey, black, rose, and yellow. I like to get a color that stands out so people at the gym don’t think you are taking the gyms. They are very well made and are capable of holding up to 330 pounds!

My husband and I use these grips every single time we go to the gym. You can use them to work out chest, back, biceps, shoulders, and triceps. I will be uploading a workout using these in the future. Let me know which muscle group you would like to see first!

I have attached the link below if you would like to try them! Thank you for reading today’s blog. I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, leave a comment below!

    Scrumptious Salad

    Hi Everyone!

Today’s post is about my favorite salad of all time. This is my go-to salad! It reminds me of the Chipotle Glazed Pork Salad from Zuppas. The ingredients are listed below for one serving of salad.

    Ingredients

    1/3 Head Green Leaf Lettuce

    1/6 Package Pork Carnitas

    ¼ Can Sweet Corn

    ¼ Can Pinto Beans

    8 Croutons

    1/8 Red Onion

    10 Cherry Tomatoes

    ¼ Avocado

    1 Tablespoon Chipotle Ranch

    1 Tablespoon Barbeque Sauce

    1/8 Cup Cheddar Cheese

    Directions

    1. Heat up the meat in the microwave according to the directions on the box.
    2. Get two pans out and start heating your sweet corn and pinto beans on medium-low.
    3. When the meat is finished heating, remove from the packaging and place into the kitchen aid with 2 Tablespoons of Barbeque sauce, lock and mix at a three for one minute. If you do not have a kitchen aid, you can shred the meat and mix it with the sauce in a bowl.
    4. Next cut your head of lettuce.
    5. Next dice your red onion. (I keep a diced onion in a Ziploc baggie in my fridge).
    6. Next cut your cherry tomatoes in half.
    7. Next dice your avocado.
    8. Add the above amounts of ingredients into a large bowl and toss.
    9. When finished, drizzle your remaining barbeque sauce and chipotle ranch over the mixture.
    10. Enjoy!!

I am obsessed with this salad. If you ask anyone who knows me well if I’ve always loved salads, they will tell you definitely not. I just recently got into eating salads within the last two years. I could seriously eat this one every day if I could!

    Creating a Positive Body Image

    Hey Everybody!

Today I am going to talk about what most of us don’t have and that is positive body image. I won’t lie I struggle with this every single day BUT I am getting better at it. I know so many people that I think look unbelievable that look at themselves and think the opposite.

This is hard for me to share but I saw this Victoria’s Secret ad and while I was in Hawaii last year, I decided to recreate it. When I saw the pictures of me, I wanted to cry. It honestly made me depressed. Here I was the most fit I have been in my entire life. I looked NOTHING like the girl but guess what, I’m not her. Nor will I ever be and that is just fine!

It’s so easy to compare yourself to others but guess what? You will NEVER look like any one else. You physically can’t! Your DNA is completely different from anyone else. So, we need to learn how to love our own bodies. Do you know how many people look at your body and wish they had what you have? Yes, I am talking to YOU. I know that so many people would! I know this because of my own experiences. I have looked at pictures that I have even posted and had the thoughts, “wow I don’t even look like I workout” or “look how fat my stomach looks”.  On these same pictures I get comments like: “abs of steel” or “you are always so gorgeous”.  I am definitely not telling you this to brag, it’s the simple truth. So many people would kill to have your body and on the other aspect of things there will ALWAYS be someone that you think looks better than you!

Our bodies are incredible!! Think of all the amazing things they do on their own, without you even thinking about it. They break down what we put into it and turn it into energy. They can create and develop another human. They can regulate their own temperature. They can heal themselves over time. We have our senses. We can hear, taste, smell, touch, and see! We can learn anything; our minds are so powerful. That is only to name a few!!

So how can we learn to appreciate our bodies?

Here are a few things that I do:

    • Give yourself credit!
      • When I lift more at the gym than I did the week before, I celebrate! I am getting stronger each day!
    • Stop the negative self-talk
      • When I look at myself in the mirror and have a negative thought pop into my head. I shut it down immediately. I replace it with something like “I am beautiful” or “I am not defined by my body”
      • Focus on what you love about yourself
    • Replace your comments with compliments you’ve gotten
      • I look so fat : I have abs of steel!
    • Remember that no one is perfect
      • That girl you think has the perfect body is struggling just like you!
      • Also, they are most likely using a filter or editing
    • Practice positive affirmations
      • Check out my post on this (it deserves its own page)

I love the quote “To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are”. I challenge you to try these things for a week and see how it works for you. I promise that over time these things really can help you!

Give me some tips that you use to combat this in the comments below! I would love to hear them!

    All-Natural Deodorant

    Hey Everybody!

Today I am getting pretty personal with my sweating problem and what I do to fix it.

My mom actually introduced me to an all-natural deodorant while we were on our trip to California. I couldn’t be more grateful. It’s called Kopari.

Deodorant is something that is pretty important to me because I myself sweat a ton! I am constantly putting deodorant on. I wake up, apply deodorant and head straight to the gym. When I am done there, I head home shower off, then reapply.

When we put deodorant on, we expect it to work. How many times have you been at the gym wondering what that awful smell was, and it turned out to be you? I unfortunately have been there. Then you want no one to get anywhere near you… With Kopari, you won’t have to worry about that anymore. Kopari states, “Our 100% plant based active works with your body’s natural functions to aid in odor reduction.”

I tried this product out for the first time when I went to Disneyland in mid-August. To say it was hot would be an understatement. I thought I would be so stinky and sweaty. To my surprise, it completely did its job and I was neither.

What about those horrible white marks on your shirts? “This aluminum-free deodorant glides on clear. Never sticky, always awesome, it’ll outlast your longest days and leave you smelling like fresh coconut milk.” I have yet to see a mark on any of my clothes.

How many times have you been in the shower trying to get off your last application of deodorant with no such luck? Or worse your armpits are tacky feeling that won’t come off with any amount of soap and scrubbing? Personally, I think that’s disgusting. Luckily with Kopari, since they only use natural ingredients, this never seems to happen anymore.

Okay, last but definitely not least, what is even in your deodorant? Did you know some ingredients in deodorant can actually increase your risk for cancer? Parabens have been found in normal deodorant and can wreak havoc on your body! Most also have aluminum, which may not seem too bad because it makes your sweat less. This is because it actually clogs your pores up and prevents you from sweating. Our bodies are meant to sweat to rid ourselves of toxins, by clogging your pores you are trapping them within. I know this is boring so I will stop here. These are seriously only TWO ingredients out of many that are absolutely terrible for you that you are applying under your arms day in and day out.

Kopari’s deodorant is “Dermatologist-Tested, Non-irritating, Non-Allergenic, Safe for Sensitive Skin, No Aluminum, No Baking Soda, No Parabens, No Silicone, No Phthalates and No Kidding.” I have been nothing short of impressed with this product. They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It is all made in the USA. The thing I find most impressive though is that you can use any of their products while you are pregnant! How many companies can say that?

I have a special coupon for you guys! If you follow the link below you can get $10 off your purchase of $25 or more!
